FAQ's Page - Frequently Asked Questions

• Will my felt fade or bleed?
Nope! We use a special process to dye the colors permanently into the felt. They won't fade or bleen. The colors will remain bright and vibrant for years to come!

• Will my felt rip or tear?
Nope! We always use the highest quality felt available so that you are guarenteed a product that will not rip or tear!

• The details and colors are so great! Are they all individually hand painted?
All sets start out by being hand painted, but then are transfered on to a computer. We print out each set on to a paper and then use high temperatures to dye the colors on to the felt. Because of this special dying method, the details are crisp and the colors are bright and vibrant.

Would you like to know more about how our felt is made? Visit our how it's made page. This will tell you about exactally how we make all our great felts!

• When I order a precut item do I still have to assemble it?
We will assemble all the products for you with the exception of the "Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly". There are so many different options for framing her that we wanted to leave that up to you. Other than that, we assemble everything so that you don't have to. To some of our customers this is quite a relief becuase of lack of time or lack of interest in assembling them! We want your children to enjoy your felt as soon as possible so we now offer this option!

• Can I wash my felt products?
Of course! Because of our special dying process, you can wash your felt whenever you need to. I recommend washing in cold water and then laying it on top of the dryer to dry. If you place it in a garment bag then no pieces will get lost in the wash and you can dry it in the dryer, but it will look more crinkled then if you lay it flat to dry. Or felt boards are washable too. Simply spray them off in the bathtub, shower or outside with a hose. Becasuse of the special colorgated plastic that we mount our backgrounds on the board won't mold or mildew or turn soggy when washed.

• What is the difference in Uncut and Precut (besides the price)?
When you order out felt products uncut, the figures and/or pages will come in one felt sheet. They will require cutting and some may require gluing and assembly. When you choose uncut, we will provide you with the instructions and notions (pieces you need) for assembly.

If you order a toggle or a set that comes with a mounted background, the board will be already mounted and the toggle book will be sewn already.

When you choose the Precut option, this includes all cutting and assembly. This means that your felt product will arrive at your door ready to use!

• What does the precut figures look like?
All of the felt is hand cut by some great employees at Story Time Felts. We do use a method called "halo cutting" which means that the background color is going to show around the edges of your felt figures. It looks nice still because the background colors around the figures are always complementary to the figures. If you would like them cut right up to the outside of the figures, it might be best to get the figures uncut and cut them out yourself.

• Can I get my felt board unmounted?
Sure! The prices on the website and in the catalog include mounting fees and that is how it will come unless specified that you want it differently. If you would like it unmounted, you will save $5.00 but you need to be sure to specify that is how you want it when ordering. Prices will be adjusted when tax and shipping are added to your subtotal.

• What ages are these felt products good for?
I like to tell my customers that the size of the pieces determine the ages that each item is good for. If the pieces are small, it may be best to save the set for an older child. I have certain things that I let my 4 month old play with, so the decision is up to you. Just be sure to supervise small children when using sets with smaller pieces just to be on the safe side.
