The Story of Jonah and the Whale is found in the Holy Bible from Jonah chapter 1 to Jonah chapter 4.
It is often difficult for a child to understand or completely grasp the concepts or lessons that are taught in the scriptures. With the felt version of the Jonah and the Whale Bible Story your child will be able to visualize the stories and act them out by themselves. And because they can see and hear the stores they will remember them better and for a longer time.
Jonah is asked to go to a city called Nineveh to tell them to repent. Jonah disobeys the Lord and got on a ship to go to a different city. The Lord sends a storm. The other men on the ship were s cared that the storm was going to sink the boat and so they asked Jonah to pray to God and ask him to stop the storm.
Jonah knew that God had sent the storm because he had not obeyed. He told the men to throw him off the ship and the storm would stop. The men obeyed Jonah and tossed him into the sea. God sent a big fish (or a whale) to swallow Jonah. Jonah was there for 3 days and 3 nights. He prayed for forgiveness. He promised to obey God. The fish spit Jonah on dry land. Again the Lord commanded Jonah to go to Nineveh. Jonah went. He told the people there to repent. The people believed him and repented of their sins. Jonah didn't know because he has left the city and had built a shelter on a nearby hill to watch the destruction of the people of Nineveh. The Lord then taught Jonah another important lesson with the help of a vine.
Discuss this story with your family or church class. Reflect on the lessons Jonah was taught and how they can apply to our lives.
