Samuel the Lamanite

Samuel preaches to the Nephites of the Birth of Jesus Christ and the events both before and after this great event.

The Samuel the Lamanite Set includes:

The felt figures range in size from 3 ½ to 7 inches in height. The story of Samuel the Lamanite can be found in the Book of Mormon from Helaman 13 to 3 Nephi chapter 8.

The Lamanite people are living righteously because they have learned and believed the words taught by Ammon and the Sons of Mosiah. The Nephites have fallen away from the church and are living in sin and wickedness. The Lord sends a prophet named Samuel who is a Lamanite to preach repentance to the Nephite people.

The people get angry with Samuel so they throw him out of the city. Samuel knows he didn't finish giving the message the Lord sent him to five, so he climbs up on the wall of the city to finish giving the message.

He tells of the birth of Jesus and of a new star appearing in the heavens. As a sign of Christ's birth, there will be no night. The sun will set, but it will still be as bright outside as the noonday sun.

He goes on to tell of the Crucifixion of Jesus and the earthquakes, fire, and destruction that will follow as a sign of Christ's death. He also tells them that there will be a mist of darkness that will cover the land for three days.

The people of Nephi are angry with Samuel the Lamanite and try to throw sticks and stones at him to get him to stop talking or get him off the wall. They even try to kill him with arrows, but the Lord protects Samuel and he is able to finish his message and escape into the woods.

A few of the Nephites were converted to the gospel by the words of Samuel the Lamanite and lived in righteousness. As the years passed the signs and events Samuel prophesied about all occurred.
