The tall tales felt board measures 23 inches by 31 inches when it is opened up. It is designed to fold in the center for easy storage and portability. There is a total of 60 felt figures and they range in size from ___ inches to ____ inches tall.

These beautiful and fun felt figures are great for pretending and imagining. I loved to hear and tell stories like Paul Bunyan and Davey Crocket when I was growing up. We would pretend for hours that we were one of the strong, brave and tough early settlers of this country.

The colorful felt board is a picture of a mountain, the prairie and even a River traveling through the land. It is bright and vibrant and a great setting for any of these wonderful American folk tales.

This set is perfect for kids in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. This is the times in school that they learn about these stories. They can use this felt board at school while in class to learn and then reinforce the concepts and lessons learned at school right there at home. There are several children's books that you can check out at your local library to help encourage reading along with this set or for ideas of other stories you can tell with these same pieces.

Another great way to have fun with the Tall Tales set is to write a story that will continue the ones that we already have. What happened to Davey Crocket and his wife. Did they have any kids? What were their names? Did they do anything unique? How about Paul Bunyan? Use this as a way to practice writing and story structure as well as a way to expand your child's creativity and imagination.
