The Hungry Caterpillar Eats Lunch can be used to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. It is a great learning story for kids. They love the bright colors of the foods and the foods all looks so yummy that your taste buds will start to tingle!

Talk about nutrition and healthy eating. You can talk about what now to eat, overeating, and the importance of choosing a variety of different fruits and vegetables to eat everyday.

Count the foods this very hungry caterpillar eats and name the colors too. For instance, "On the next day, he ate 4 red, ripe strawberries" and then count, "One, two, three, four."

This is one of my all time favorite stories! My kids ask me to tell them The Hungry Caterpillar Eats Lunch over and over and over again. They love to watch the hungry little caterpillar eat and eat and then transform into a great, big caterpillar and then into a butterfly. Each time they will choose their favorite food out and pretend to eat ti. We could play with it four hours and it would never get old.
